Lesson Planning Sessions and feedback
The 6th grade team at Northern Granville Middle School was comprised of almost all beginning teachers, or teachers who were new to the United States. This meant they needed additional help in learning the curriculum and planning effective instruction. One area that I provided support in was organizing planning meetings between team members to assist in ensuring quality instruction. Performance Based Objectives Professional Development In addition to supporting planning through lesson planning sessions, I also provided the entire team with an hour long professional development session explaining performance based objectives and how to use them in instructional practices. Following the professional development session and lesson planning I provided regular feedback on their lesson plans to continue to push and increase their lesson planning abilities. |

Gradual Release Professional Development
Following insturctional walkthroughs at the beggining of the year, the administrative team decided that it was necessary to provide explicit instruction to teachers about the gradual release method, and include a more detailed description of what the teachers and students should be doing in a typical class period. I was able to create a document explaining this format and provide instruction to the teachers on how to implement it in their classrooms. Scheduling During the summer I worked closely with the administration team to implement various schedules for the changes in learning structures that we have seen this school year. The district asked that each school provide specific schedules for Plan A, B and C of learning in order to be prepared for the various changes the school year would have. |
