Parent and Community Involvement and Outreach
Technology Night
One of the earlier things that I was able to do in my internship was to plan and implement a parent technology night at the beginning of the school year. This event gave teachers and staff members the ability to share some of the nuances of middle school technology with our students and families. While this virtual event did not have a large number of people in attendance we were able to post the video to our school website for parents to refer back to throughout the year. This meeting helped to build a connection between teachers and families so that when problems arised with grades or the completion of work we could explain to the parents what to do and how to help. |
Federal, State and District Mandates
IEP team
Being assigned to the sixth grade team I was able to act as the LEA for sixth grade IEP meetings. During the meetings I kept the minutes and provided some additional feedback on student performance, expectations and programs outside of the regular education classroom. School law project Throughout our school law class we had the opportunity to review various law cases that have impacted the way schools opportate today. For each section of laws were were assigned one secific case to research and share with our classmates. This project helped me learn about the various laws and mandates that schools must follow in order to stay in complience, keep students and faculty safe and provide a postive learning environment. |
