Emily earned an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education from Pennsylvania State University. She began her career in education as a fifth grade teacher at Creedmoor Elementary School in Granville County. She participated in PBIS, 21st Century Instruction Technology, and Arts Integration trainings. Emily was the department chair of her grade level team as well as the data team chair at Creedmoor Elementary. She also served on the school leadership team and school improvement team. Emily was the fifth grade representative on the English Language Arts curriculum design team for her district. In her internship, Emily worked closely with the 6th grade team. She provided support during PLC's, the MTSS process and lesson planning. In addition to her work with the 6th grade team, Emily was the technology prime and assisted with professional development and data collection and review. Emily can be reached at [email protected].
EMILY MAKAY IS A FELLOW IN THE NC STATE LEADERSHIP ACADEMY
NC State Leadership Academy (NCSLA) is one of NC State’s newest cohorts! NCSLA was modeled after the award winning NC State program, the Northeast Leadership Academy (NELA). NELA earned the honor of being named an Exemplary Educational Leadership Program by the University Council for Educational Administration. Upon completion of the two-year NCSLA program, Fellows will be prepared to lead North Carolina Schools. NCSLA Fellows began the program Summer 2019 and will graduate in May 2021.
